Riddick 4: Vin Diesel hopes it’s just a matter of time before sequel shoots

Before Vin Diesel was Dominic Toretto, he was Richard B. Riddick, a sci-fi anti-hero with distinctive eyes which allow him to see in the dark. The actor first played the role in Pitch Black, before returning to expand the franchise in a big way with The Chronicles of Riddick. Unfortunately, the sequel wasn't exactly a critical or commercial success and wound up bringing the franchise to a grinding halt. Diesel wasn't about to let Riddick die however, and close to ten years later, he was able to bring the character back once again for Riddick. Although Riddick was considered to be an improvement over the previous film, the series once again slowed to a crawl and a fourth installment hasn't yet materialized.

Although Vin Diesel is busy planning the conclusion of the Fast & Furious franchise, he still has a place in his heart for Riddick, and he gave an update about Riddick 4 while speaking with Games Radar.

It's so funny, I was just wearing my Furyion shirt. [Director] David Twohy, he wrote a great script. It's just a matter of timing when we get that opportunity to shoot that. But I believe we're shooting that in Australia. And it would be the fourth chapter in that series, which would be awesome.

As much as I would love to see another Riddick adventure, I'm not about to hold my breath. In addition to another movie, Vin Diesel also isn't ruling out another Riddick video-game to follow the highly success first game.  "We did have great success with Escape From Butcher Bay," Diesel said. "It feels like an eternity ago now. But, I imagine that we would take advantage of the gaming space and add an extra chapter, but definitely, the [movie's] script is already written. So it's safe to say that we are moving towards filming the fourth chapter of Riddick." Here's hoping.
