Anyone who loves time-travel stories and/or appreciated Rian Johnson’s brilliant high-school noir BRICK should be anticipating the filmmaker’s next ambitious project LOOPER.
The movie already has a pretty killer cast that includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt and Paul Dano. Recent additions include Piper Perabo, Jeff Daniels, Hong Kong actress Xu Qing (FLASH POINT), and Noah Segan, who’s also appeared in Johnson’s BRICK and THE BROTHERS BLOOM.
And on top of that, Johnson brought in someone with time-travel movie experience (and who knows, perhaps actual time-travel experience) to help him out — Shane Carruth, who made the ingenious low-budget indie PRIMER.
The production is underway and will shoot in New Orleans. The story follows a present-day employee (Gordon-Levitt) of a crime syndicate of the future. His job is to dispose of people delivered from the future to eliminate evidence of a crime. When he recognizes one victim (Willis) as his future self, he hesitates, letting the man escape.
