Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick say that Dopinder will be back for Deadpool 2

Update: Reese and Wernick confirmed to Collider that both Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Colossus will be returning as well.

Tim Miller's DEADPOOL was full of scene-stealing moments and characters, but perhaps the most memorable, for me at least, was Dopinder, the taxi driver whose services Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) made use of on several occasions. Played by Karan Soni (Blunt Talk), Dopinder had a small arc throughout the film as he acted on the questionable advice which Deadpool gave him in regards to winning back Gita from his handsome cousin, Bandhu. It turns out that DEADPOOL writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick loved the character just as much as I, and, while speaking with Nerdist, confirmed that he'll be returning for the upcoming sequel.

I would say that the relationship between Dopinder and Deadpool was the most fun for me. I just love that relationship and love that character. And he’ll be in the sequel.

The last time we saw Dopinder, he was in a bit of a predicament as he'd just crashed his taxi with a captive Bandhu in the trunk. Ruh oh. In addition to the returning characters, the DEADPOOL sequel will also introduce several new ones, including Domino and Cable. Neither Reese nor Wernick would comment on which actors are currently up for the part, but teased that those who are represent an "embarrassment of riches." I can't wait to find out. Under the direction of David Leitch (JOHN WICK), the DEADPOOL sequel is still on track to shoot later this year and is set for a January 12, 2018 release.
