Review: License To Wed

A
young happy-go-lucky couple gets engaged. But before they get
hitched, they gotta meet up with the bride’s reverend who’s been
with the family since forever. The reverend then puts them through a
special training workshop to determine whether or not they can
handle the pressures of marriage and if they are really meant to be
together. A hot radiant Mandy Moore and funny man Robin
Williams ensues.

Good
grief! This movie was booooooorring! In fact, it’s the type of
flick that my mother would like (put that on the movie poster). The
laughs were few and far between and the story was kinda lame. Mind
you, I didn’t have that many expectations going into this but I
figured, hey, if Robin Williams is in it, how bad could it really
be? But alas, it felt like they were ripping off MEET
THE PARENTS and as a result, they made an inferior movie. John
Krasinki ain’t no Ben Stiller and Mr. Williams is definitely not
Robert DeNiro. Bottom line, this movie just wasn’t good.

Mandy
Moore…I like Mandy, she’s hot and isn’t too bad at acting
either, plus she really seems like a “down to earth” chick. This
particular role won’t exactly propel her acting career, but I
think if she wants to move forward, she needs to play in a grittier
movie and find a darker role in her future. She’s got the
"nice girl" routine down pat, but it’s time for her to
move on now.

John Krasinki plays Moore’s better half. I
really thought this guy was miscast in this role. I think his
character or the "type of character" he played would be
better suited to a Judd
Apatow flick. I just couldn’t take his character seriously (I
know it’s supposed to be a comedy, but he just reminded me of a
Disney character without fur). To me, that’s just not funny. Plus,
he was just too geeky-looking to hook up with a chick like Moore. I
just didn’t buy into their relationship. I think he should just
stick to "The Office".

Robin Williams plays our Reverend Frank. I expected a lot more
from Williams. He seemed really toned down and isn’t anything like
the Robin Williams we used to love. I can’t put my finger on it,
but his wild tangents — where he goes off — just aren’t as funny
as they used to be. Also, his little minion in the movie or the
“Reverend in training” kid, who was like ten years old or
something, was too clever for a kid his age. The whole set-up
between the two characters was supposed to be a funny little
relationship, but it just fell flat.

I guess you really can’t say it enough, but
this movie was garbage. The whole story arc was nonsensical and
unrealistic. God, I give up Hollywood! Don’t waste your hard
earned dollars guys, in fact…don’t even watch this when it’s
free on T.V!
