Radio Silence, the filmmakers behind 2019's Ready or Not, announced that they're teaming with writers Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy for a high school horror film titled Reunion.
Radio Silence, made up of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, and Chad Villella, will direct and produce the project based on a screenplay by Busick, who has teamed with Murphy on the concept. It's also been reported that MGM has acquired the spec script in what was a heated competition.
According to Deadline, Reunion tells of what happens when the horrific experience of high school reunions is taken to a new extreme when a group of uninspired old friends becomes the only hope for survival against an unwelcome shape-shifting creature.
Busick is steadily becoming a name to know after recently co-writing the new installment of Scream with James Vanderbilt. Busick also co-wrote several episodes of Castle Rock with his writing partner, Murphy, perhaps labeling him as a go-to for horror-related projects.
Personally, I get excited each time I see that Radio Silence is attached to a new project. Ready or Not was among my top favorite films of 2019 and I'm thrilled to hear that they'll be delivering a creature feature with Reunion. Those types of movies are a rare breed nowadays, and so if anyone can bring them back in a big way, it could be them.
We'll be sure to bring you more details as plans for Reunion continue to take shape.
