NBCUniversal's streaming service, Peacock, launched on Xfinity X1 and Flex yesterday before being available nationally on July 15 and the streamer has released a slew of teaser trailers for some of their content, including the first look at the new Saved by the Bell reboot.
Saved by the Bell returns to Bayside with new leads Josie Totah and Dexter Darden starring alongside original cast members such as Elizabeth Berkley, Mario Lopez, and Mark-Paul Gosselaar and new actors including Haskiri Velazquez, Mitchell Hoog, Alycia Pascual-Pena and Belmont Cameli. The new Saved by the Bell follows a group of California low-income high school students who are transferred to Pacific Palisades' wealthy Bayside High, following a program by California Governor Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar). The series will be executive produced and written by Emmy-winning 30 Rock writer-producer Tracey Wigfield.
While Peacock will launch on July 15 nationally with new shows ready to go, the hope is that Saved By The Bell will be finished in time to make a 2020 debut. Like most Hollywood companies, Peacock’s slate was impacted by the coronavirus pandemic-related production shutdown. As a result, a “significant” amount of Peacock’s originals could and will be pushed into 2021.
I, with no shame, still watch reruns of the original Saved by the Bell so I'm a little curious to see what the reboot is about, especially since they got back some of the original cast. Will YOU be checking out the new Saved by the Bell?
