Load your LEMI, sharpen your trusty knife, and don’t forget to pinch a bit of green herb because the first images for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City are here! IGN got an exclusive look at the upcoming film from Screen Gems, featuring looks at characters like Clair Redfield, Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Leon S. Kennedy, Albert Wesker, and more.
Set to release on November 24th, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is based on the first two games in the iconic Resident Evil series. The movie chronicles how Raccoon City went from being a city of industry to a dying Midwestern town that’s become ground zero for the t-Virus outbreak.
The first photo released by IGN features Leon Kennedy (Avan Jogia) and Claire Redfield (Kaya Scodelario) patrolling an underground area. Leon is dressed in a police uniform while Claire is sporting her iconic red jacket.
The second image shows Albert Wesker (Tom Hopper), Brad Vickers (Nathan Dales), Jill Valentine (Hannah John-Kamen), and Chris Redfield (Robbie Amell) exploring the famed Spencer Mansion. Finally! Am I right? Fans have been asking for the Spencer Mansion setting to be depicted on film for years, and now it looks as if we’ll get our wish. This is very exciting for fans of the original game.
Lastly, and definitely the creepiest photo of all, the third image gives us a look at Lisa Trevor (Marina Mazepa), a monstrously transformed woman, and the daughter of the Spencer Mansion’s architect, that was exposed by the Umbrella Corporation to several experiments and viruses at the Arklay Laboratory.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is written and directed by Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down, The Strangers: Prey at Night). Here’s the official synopsis:
Once the booming home of pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, Raccoon City is now a dying Midwestern town. The company’s exodus left the city a wasteland…with great evil brewing below the surface. When that evil is unleashed, the townspeople are forever…changed…and a small group of survivors must work together to uncover the truth behind Umbrella and make it through the night.
The film is set to be released on November 24. Other members of the cast include Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Nathan Dales as Brad Vickers, and Neal McDonough as Dr. William Birkin.
