Though Mortal Kombat is getting all the hype due to the awesome redband trailer, there's another highly anticipated videogame adaptation coming out this year that's a reboot of a film that was also originally directed by Paul W.S. Anderson – Resident Evil. And though there's not an official trailer yet, there is a new official banner, which you can see for yourself at the bottom of the article!
Now, while there's no official plot synopsis, director Johannes Roberts’ (47 Meters Down) has said that the upcoming Resident Evil reboot will be a faithful retelling of the first two games, stating:
With this movie, I really wanted to go back to the original first two games and re-create the terrifying visceral experience I had when I first played them. Whilst at the same time telling a grounded human story about a small dying American town that feels both relatable and relevant to today’s audiences.”
Meanwhile, Resident Evil – starring Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield, Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker, Neal McDonough as William Birkin, Donal Logue as Chief Brian Irons, Chad Rook as Richard Aiken, Lily Gao is Ada Wong, and Marina Mazepa is Lisa Trevor – is hoping to hit theaters on September 3rd…but we'll keep you updated if there are any delays.
