Resident Evil: Milla Jovovich would love to return to the franchise

Resident Evil, Milla Jovovich, reboot

Nearly twenty years ago, Paul W.S. Anderson wrote and directed Resident Evil, a live-action film based on the popular video-game franchise. It was hard to imagine at the time, but Resident Evil would merely by the first of six films in the franchise that came to a close with Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.

All six Resident Evil films starred Milla Jovovich as Alice, but with the franchise receiving a big-screen reboot (not to mention a Netflix TV series), it would seem that Jovovich's time with Resident Evil has come to an end, but while speaking with ComicBook.com, Jovovich said that she would love to return given the opportunity.

Resident Evil is such a huge part of my life, on so many different levels. I was such a big fan of the game. That's what made me want to be in the movie to begin with. So, I would always love to go back to the Resident Evil universe. I think it's such a fun place to be in, and it's such a great reality. And, listen, I spent half of my career in that world. I would love to be a part of it again. I know whoever is doing it is going to have an amazing time on it, because it's a really fun world to be a part of.

The Resident Evil reboot is currently shooting under the direction of Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down) and is slated to star Kaya Scodelario (The Maze Runner) as Claire Redfield, Robbie Amell (Upload) as Chris Redfield, and Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and The Wasp) as Jill Valentine. Even if Milla Jovovich doesn't return in some form in any of the upcoming Resident Evil projects, she does have a brand-new potential video-game franchise with Monster Hunter, in which she stars as Captain Artemis, a U.S. Army Ranger who is thrust through a portal populated by giant monsters and must seek a way home. The film, which was directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, is now playing in theaters, so be sure to check out a review from our own Chris Bumbray right here.
