One of science fiction's wackiest players, Alan Tudyk, stars in the new trailer for SYFY's Resident Alien. The new series finds Tudyk in the role of Harry, a crash-landed alien who takes on the identity of a small-town Colorado doctor. When Harry gets roped into helping with a local murder, he quickly experiences a moral dilemma that has his plans for destroying the Earth put on hold. The series is set to debut on SYFY on January 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
Based on the Dark Horse comic, Resident Alien will have Harry asking the age-old question: Are human beings worth saving? After all, 2020 hasn't exactly been the most glowing year for the human race, and I would not be surprised if aliens were considering putting us out of our misery. Perhaps we should consult the Galactic Federation?
In addition to Alan Tudyk, Resident Alien also stars Sara Tomko (Once Upon A Time), Corey Reynolds (The Closer), Alice Wetterlund (Silicon Valley), and Levi Fiehler (Mars) as the major players of Patience, Colorado. The show hails from UPC, in association with Amblin TV and Dark Horse Entertainment. Adapting the series for SYFY is executive producer Chris Sheridan, (Family Guy). Mike Richardson (Hellboy) and Keith Goldberg (The Legend of Tarzan) of Dark Horse Entertainment (The Umbrella Academy), and Justin Falvey (The Americans), and Darryl Frank (The Americans) of Amblin TV.
David Dobkin (Into the Badlands, Green Eggs and Ham) executive produced and directed the pilot, which you can catch 7-minutes of by watching the video posted below:
While I've never read the Resident Alien series from Dark Horse, I must admit that I'm curious about SYFY's new show. We're big fans of Alan Tudyk in my house, and this project looks to be giving him plenty of space for his signature antics. Plus, who doesn't love the idea of a small-town police procedural where the oddball-for-hire is a literal extraterrestrial? This all sounds like a winning combination to me, but we'll have to wait until January to find out for certain.
