With New York Comic Con well underway there are a number of really cool announcements and first looks being revealed. With that, we have some cool images from two upcoming remakes; CARRIE and THE EVIL DEAD. Both of these films stem from terrific source material, which has long been reverred as classic and untouchable. The original CARRIE was directed by Brian DePalma and starred Sissy Spacek as the titular character. Now, director Kimberly Pierce (BOYS DON’T CRY) is tackling the Stephen King novel, with rising star Chloe Grace Moretz as the blood-soaked telekinetic.
Dark Horizons scored a really sweet, exclusive international poster, which you can view below.
You WILL know her name:
As for THE EVIL DEAD, Sam Raimi’s calling card to Hollywood, the remake is being directed by Fede Alvarez and features a gaggle of young stars, including Jane Levy, Jessica Lucas, and Shiloh Fernandez. Raimi and mega cult star Bruce Campbell are producing and have championed the remake from the start. Today, we have our first look at a rather goulish looking young lady in the infamous basement from that all-too familiar cabin in the woods.
Take a look…but don’t stare:
Pretty cool stuff. Both teaser trailers for CARRIE and THE EVIL DEAD screened at NYCC to racaous applause. Apparently the CARRIE remake is looking like a solid adaptation with creepy paranormal vibes, while THE EVIL DEAD is echoing a dark and serious tone with serious gore. Sounds pretty damn good to me. The CARRIE trailer will hit the net on Monday, so be sure to check back for that. No word on when THE EVIL DEAD trailer will hit, but expect it shortly.
CARRIE starts burning her classmates on March 15, 2013 and THE EVIL DEAD heads into the woods on April 12, 2013.
