Relic’s Natalie Erika James to direct Apartment 7A for Platinum Dunes

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Fresh off the critical success of her feature directorial debut Relic (watch it HERE), Natalie Erika James has signed on to direct the psychological thriller Apartment 7A for Paramount Players and A Quiet Place collaborators Platinum Dunes and John Krasinski.

Krasinski will be producing the film with Allyson Seeger through Sunday Night Productions, while Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller are producing through Platinum Dunes. Alexa Ginsburg will be overseeing the project for Sunday Night Productions, while Alex Ginno does the same for Platinum Dunes.

Apartment 7A was written by Skylar James, and plot details are being kept secret for now. James and her Relic co-writer Christian White will be performing their own rewrite of the script.

With James at the helm, the producers are hoping to have Apartment 7A filming by the end of the year.

We had previously heard that James was aiming to make a project called Drum Wave her second feature. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Rosemary's Baby and The Wicker Man, James and White crafted a story about an annual fertility festival on a remote island in Japan.

Anna McLeish and Sarah Shaw will be producing Drum Wave, but it sounds like Apartment 7A is going to be filming before that one.
