If you were looking forward to Ben Affleck scoring the cinematic hat trick in 2016 with THE ACCOUNTANT, BATMAN V SUPERMAN and LIVE BY NIGHT, you may want to placate those expectations just a touch. Two of those films have been pushed back, and it isn't the one with the guy with the suit.
THE ACCOUNTANT, also starring Anna Kendrick and J.K. Simmons, follows a man who is an unassuming accountant by day and an assassin by night. Sounds like someone has some DAREDEVIL demons to work out! While this flick was set to hit in January, it has now been pushed back to October 7, 2016. I guess we'll just have to "settle" for Marvel's Daredevil show on Netflix for the time being…
Also on the slate was Ben Affleck's directorial follow-up to ARGO, LIVE BY NIGHT. The film, based on the Dennis Lehane novel, will feature a story set in the prohibition era and centered around a group of individuals and their dealings in the world of organized crime. Given that the film was going to start shooting in November, it's entirely possible they wanted to give Affleck more time to work on production. The previous release date in Ocotober of 2016 has now been moved to an unknown date in 2017.
Affleck has been much more picky with his acting roles these days and it's definitely paid off. We're all itching to see how he handles playing The Dark Knight, but any of his directorial efforts are an even more exciting ocassion for me, given how well he handled GONE BABY GONE and THE TOWN. It's also worth pointing out that the sooner he wraps up LIVE BY NIGHT, the sooner he can get to work on a solo Batman flick!
You can check out Ben Affleck next in BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE on March 25, 2016.
