Release date & details for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Blu-ray revealed

Folks sure do love watching dinosaurs go on the rampage. The recent JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM has grossed well over $1 billion world-wide, and for those of you waiting to catch the film at home, either again or for the first time, well, you won't have to wait much longer. Universal Pictures announced today that the J.A. Bayona flick will be available on Digital and Movies Anywhere on September 4, 2018, followed by its release on DVD, Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD, and On Demand on September 18, 2018. The third installment of the JURASSIC WORLD trilogy is already in the works which will find JURASSIC WORLD director Colin Trevorrow returning to the director's seat. Trevorrow has previously that the third film will be closer in tone to Steven Spielberg's 1993 JURASSIC PARK than either JURASSIC WORLD or JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM. "If I could contextualize each film, I would say Jurassic World was an action adventure, Fallen Kingdom is kind of a horror suspense film, and Jurassic World 3 will be a science thriller in the same way that Jurassic Park was," Trevorrow teased.

The official synopsis of JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM:

It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment.  Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles.   When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event.  Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission.  Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.   With all of the wonder, adventure and thrills synonymous with one of the most popular and successful series in cinema history, this all-new motion-picture event sees the return of favorite characters and dinosaurs—along with new breeds more awe-inspiring and terrifying than ever before.

JURASSIC WORLD 3 is set to hit theaters on June 11, 2021.
