Late last month we brought you the news that FilmDistrict had quietly dropped Mike Flanagan's haunted mirror tale OCULUS just ahead of the films screening at the Toronto International Film Festival, allowing the filmmakers to shop the film around to other buyers. Now Variety is reporting that the Midnight Madness selection may have found a home!
Relativity is in final negotiations to partner with Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions to buy OCULUS at the Toronto International Film Festival, Variety is reporting. The deal is announced four days after the film had its world premiere in the Midnight Madness section at Toronto.
Relativity said it plans a wide release but has not set the date.
Starring Karen Gillan, Katee Sackhoff, Brenton Thwaites, Rory Cochrane, Annalise Basso, and Garrett Ryan, OCULUS…
…is a spine-chilling supernatural tale of two damaged siblings (Gillan and Thwaites) who, as children, witnessed their parents’ harrowing descent into madness and murder. At long last, brother and sister reunite as adults to expose and destroy the paranormal entity they believe is responsible: the Lasser Glass — a legendary mirror their family once owned."
