In writer/director Mike Binder’s REIGN OVER ME, Adam Sandler is once again
moving away from his usual schtick and flexing his acting muscle by playing Charlie, a soft-spoken, unassuming guy who’s living in a grief-fueled daze after losing his
entire family in the 9/11 attacks, but unexpectedly running into his old college roommate (Don Cheadle) puts him on the long, painful road to recovery. Moviefone recently
premiered the trailer, which you can see over HERE. Will audiences accept Sandler’s serious side this time as they didn’t last time (that is, in PUNCH-DRUNK LOVE)? Or will he
forever be stuck with the Jim Carrey curse where as much as he proves he’s a genuine actor, he’s still only accepted when he’s in broad comedy mode? Check out the
trailer and maybe strike back some thoughts. If you don’t want to bother with Moviefone’s video player, the official site has also posted the trailer HERE. The film opens March 9th.
