THR reports that Matthew McConaughey has dropped out of the gritty crime thriller Redeemer, from True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto, whom he had collaborated with previously. This also means, per the article, that FX is currently "negotiating with the True Detective creator on an exit package that would end his first-look deal with the two Disney-owned brands. The decision, per sources, comes as Pizzolatto has two years remaining on the deal that he signed last year."
Anyway, here's the official synopsis of the would-be show:
The show would've followed a minister-turned-dissolute security guard whose search for a missing woman in Texas leads him through a corruption-steeped criminal conspiracy, as his past and present impact and entwine around a mystery of escalating violence and deceit.
So what do you guys think? Would you have liked to have seen another dark collaboration between Pizzolatto and McConaughey? Either way, sound off below!
