The wait is finally coming to an end. It’s only just a tiny bit longer until the debut of the trailer from Zack Snyder’s new space opera. It was previously announced that today is to be the worldwide debut of the trailer for Zack Snyder‘s new film, Rebel Moon. The Watchmen director took to social media to announce that his upcoming sci-fi film will have a special appearance at a video game event in Germany called Gamescom. Snyder had posted a picture of him in an editing bay that featured a sneak peek of a frame from the film with the caption, “Adding the final touches. The @RebelMoon teaser trailer will make its global debut live @Gamescom. See you there on Tuesday, August 22. #RebelMoon.”
Gamescom in Germany is underway, and the global debut for Rebel Moon should be released in just a matter of hours. The anticipation is growing as a Twitter account called Snyder Netflix Updates posted a promotional video teasing the release of the trailer. The caption on the tweet reads “Netflix teases the #RebelMoon trailer coming out later today with brand new shots!” The quick clips in the teaser video showcase some of the expansive sci-fi planes that the audience has to look forward to, as well as someone that is dual-wielding weapons that resemble lightsabers. Snyder has made no secret that this movie has been heavily influenced by Star Wars.
Additionally, ScreenRant has shared a different video that seemed to be a teaser from yesterday as the video touts, “Teaser Tomorrow.” This one features slightly less shots and is relying on the haunting sounds of a bell getting hit by the film’s star, Sofia Boutella. It concludes with dialogue spoken off-screen, “What do you think they want?” The, Boutella’s character responds, “Everything.” The tweet’s caption reads, “Today. #RebelMoon We have lots to share this week” followed by a “cool” emoji.
Rebel Moon Part 1: A Child of Fire is slated to be released on Netflix on December 22. What’s on Netflix has also learned that Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver is eyeing a release sometime around April 2024. A Child of Fire has also been said to be given a small theatrical run; however, that has not yet been confirmed. Additionally, both films are expected to be given an extended R-rated release.
