Real Caribbean pirate

Blackbeard Move over, Jack Sparrow, there’s a real pirate of the Caribbean getting the big budget big screen treatment and his name is Blackbeard. DreamWorks is working on a biopic of the notorious English pirate (whose real name was Edward Teach) and they’ve set GLADIATOR and AMISTAD scirbe David Franzoni of scripting a story that’s as profitable as the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN franchise (they didn’t say that, of course, but that’s the general idea, ain’t it?). Blackbeard did his looting and pillaging during what’s been known as The Golden Age of Piracy during the 18th century. Former 76ers co-owner Pat Croce, an avid pirate enthusiast whose written a couple of books on pirates and even owns a pirate museum, will be producing and collaborating closely with Fanzoni on the screenplay.
