Ready for more Rundown? Peter Berg wants to make a sequel with Jonah Hill

It's hard to imagine a time when Dwayne Johnson wasn't the biggest star on the planet, but as with most things in this world, you've got to start somewhere. Following his debut as Mathayus in both THE MUMMY RETURNS and THE SCORPION KING, Dwayne Johnson starred in THE RUNDOWN as Beck, a bounty hunter who wants out of the game but agrees to take on one last bounty by bringing the son of the man he works for back from Brazil. Although THE RUNDOWN wasn't a box-office success, it was well received by critics and helped to launch the career of Mr. Franchise Viagra. Talk of a sequel pops up every so often and now that Johnson is bigger than ever, it might be time to bring Beck back.

Peter Berg, director of THE RUNDOWN, recently spoke with Collider about the state of the project and the surprising actor he wants to bring on-board.

We’ve been talking about it. You know, I wanted to do it with Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson. If I could get Jonah Hill, I’d do it tomorrow. If I could get Dwayne and Jonah Hill, I’d do it tomorrow.

Hill certainly isn't the first name that comes to mind when I think of Dwayne Johnson style action, but he's certainly shown that he has what to takes to juggle action and comedy with the 21 JUMP STREET franchise. A script for THE RUNDOWN sequel has already been written but Peter Berg is aware that a sequel isn't a sure thing; he says that everyone involved would like to do it, but that it's hard to get everybody in the same room. Peter Berg's next project, DEEPWATER HORIZON, reunites him with his LONE SURVIVOR star Mark Wahlberg and hits theaters on September 30, 2016.
