Not to be that guy, but I write a lot of scripts. I study the craft of screenwriting and I try to read and analyze any screenplay I can find. No big deal. A lot of you guys out there are in the same boat.
I love everything about screenplays. Not just the structure and dialogue, but even the 12 point courier. The margins. The sluglines. Etc.
It is with this in mind I wanted to share the screenplay for Darren Aronofsky's controversial horror-thriller mother! here today. The script is said to have been written in a mere five days and that alone should be reason enough to give it a (free) download.
But what's more interesting about Aronofsky's script is his lack of typical sluglines. Not once in the film does he use INT. and/or EXT. Not one single time does he ever type DAY or NIGHT.
Very interesting approach…
You can read the script for yourself right HERE.
After giving it a read through then make sure to hit us up and let us know what you think of Aronofsky's screenwriting style choices in the new comments section below or on social media.
