Re-release of Close Encounters of the Third Kind gets a brand new trailer

Steven Spielberg’s CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND is an absolute masterpiece of science fiction that has stood the test of time thanks to its tremendous visual effects, iconic imagery, and soulful story. It’s hard to believe the movie is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and to celebrate the occasion the movie is heading back into theaters and will be getting a 4K restoration. Get ready to relive the classic with this new trailer for the re-release, which is going to give you a serious hankering for mashed potatoes.

I never got a chance to see the movie on a big screen given my lack of life at that time, so of course, I will seek it out like a madman when it comes out in a little over a month. Spielberg movies have influenced my life going back to my earliest years, and any chance to see his movies on the big screen must be utilized. I saw JAWS recently on the big screen, and it was like seeing it for the very first time. ENCOUNTERS will most likely provide the same effect.

The film will get a one-week run starting September 1, and then a special edition Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray will follow on September 19.
