What? Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke are half brothers? How did this happen? Oh, it’s for a new movie called Raymond and Ray? Well, that makes a lot more sense.
Like I was saying, Apple Original Films has cast McGregor and Hawke in an upcoming film directed and written by Rodrigo García (In Treatment, Albert Nobbs) called Raymond and Ray (via Deadline). The duo will play half brothers who have lived in the shadow of a terrible father. Alfonso Cuarón (Roma) will produce alongside Bonnie Curtis (Saving Private Ryan) and Julie Lynn (To the Bone). Meanwhile, Gabriela Rodriguez and Shea Kammer will act as executive producers.
Despite growing up around such a disturbing figure, the brothers have managed to keep their sense of humor, and his funeral is a chance for them to reinvent themselves. However, there’s still a lot of pain, and there may be some gravedigging involved as well.
McGregor is currently filming the Disney+/Lucasfilm’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Star Wars fans lost their damn minds when the show was finally confirmed, and you can bet that the pressure is on for McGregor to deliver. McGregor also has two film projects that are currently in pre-production. Those films are Marc Forster’s The Cow and Doug Liman’s Everest. You’ll also be able to hear McGregor as the voice of Jiminy Cricket in Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson’s Pinocchio.
As for Hawke, he recently wrapped on both The Northman and Rian Johnson’s Knives Out 2. Right now, he’s in the process of filming Marvel’s Moon Knight for Disney+. The upcoming series stars Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector, Gaspard Ulliel as Anton Mogart, and May Calamawy. Hawke is expected to play the lead villain in the series whose identity has yet to be revealed.
