Raya and the Last Dragon, release, Disney+

During Disney's Investors Day 2020, the studio announced that their next animated feature, Raya and the Last Dragon, would be debuting on Disney+ Premiere Access and in theaters on March 5th. This follows in the lead of Warner Bros. announcing that they will be releasing their entire 2021 slate in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously. Unlike the upcoming release of Pixar's Soul on Disney+, which will be free to Disney+ subscribers, Raya and the Last Dragon will go the Mulan route and will require an additional charge on top of your existing Disney+ subscription.

From directors Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada, co-directors Paul Briggs and John Ripa, producers Osnat Shurer and Peter Del Vecho, Raya and the Last Dragon features the voices of Kelly Marie Tran as Raya and Awkwafina as the last dragon Sisu.

The official synopsis for Raya and the Last Dragon:

Long ago, in the fantasy world of Kumandra, humans and dragons lived together in harmony. But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it’s up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people. However, along her journey, she’ll learn that it’ll take more than a dragon to save the world—it’s going to take trust and teamwork as well.

Raya and the Last Dragon will debut on Disney+ Premiere Access and in theaters on March 5, 2021.
