"To survive a war, you gotta become war."
– John Rambo
Lionsgate today has revealed the official release date for RAMBO: LAST BLOOD, which is set to serve as Sylvester Stallone's swan song as John Rambo, the hardened Italian and Navajo-born Vietnam veteran. The release starring Stallone and Paz Vega, among others, is now poised to fill theater floors with blood on September 20, 2019.
Heres' the logline for the upcoming film:
When the daughter of one of his friends is kidnapped, Rambo (Stallone) — who has been working on a ranch — crosses the U.S.-Mexico border and quickly finds himself up against the full might of one of Mexico’s most violent cartels.
Set to push Rambo to the limit for his last journey into the breach is ISABEL and RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE actor Sergio Peris-Mencheta, as the villain Hugo Martinez. Meanwhile, Yvette Monreal (LOWRIDERS) also stars as Gabrielle, a teenager who works on Rambo's family farm and is kidnapped by Matinez's cartel. Adrian Grunberg (APOCALYPTO, GET THE GRINGO) is directing from a screenplay penned by Matthew Cirulnick and Stallone, which is based on characters created by David Morrell.
As a lifelong Rambo fan, it's my hope that the bullet-chewing icon goes out with quite the bang. However, I have to wonder: Will Rambo survive his latest skirmish with the scum of the earth or will he go out Logan-style? My gut tells me that the final shot of the film will involve Rambo disappearing into a sun-drenched horizon line, though nothing is certain at this time. How do you think the end of Stallone's career as Rambo will pan out? Let us know in the comments section below.
RAMBO: LAST BLOOD will wage war in theaters come September 20th.
