Rambo enters LG

I was never a big fan of the RAMBO films. I had seen FIRST BLOOD when I was young and thought it was okay, but I didn’t even see the part 2, but instead made the mistake of seeing part 3. But with that said, after seeing the awesome trailer for JOHN RAMBO, I’m on board. The trailer was so compelling, so shockingly gory, so much of a balls-to-the-wall action flick, my friend Alex Rhinehart had to excuse himself from my presence and go and throw up twice out of sheer enjoyment. – That’s how good it looks.

And apparently Lionsgate feels the same way…except for the throwing up. This is because the studio has decided to pick up JOHN RAMBO for distribution. It makes sense too, as they have the rights to the rest of the franchise, which means that a fat DVD box set will be hitting the shelves around Christmas time.

Here is how the official press release sums up the plot for this bad boy: “In Thailand, a group of Christian aid workers recruit John Rambo to guide them up the Salween River to deliver medical supplies to the Karen tribe of neighboring Burma (aka Myanmar). When the missionaries fail to return, Rambo is persuaded to take a group of mercenaries back into the war-torn border region to find them. What follows is a descent into hell on earth. Sylvester Stallone writes, directs, produces and stars as JOHN RAMBO, filmed on location in and around Chiang Mai, Thailand.”
