Raimi and the Rasmussens move on from Crawl to new horror projects

Not even three weeks have passed since the alligator horror film CRAWL (pictured above) reached theatres, and we already know what genre projects are next for the director, producer, and screenwriters. While director Alexandre Aja focuses on turning the manga Tomie into a series for the upcoming streaming service Quibi, producer Sam Raimi is working on a supernatural thriller with ESCAPE ROOM director Adam Robitel and MONSTER PARTY's Chris von Hoffmann is set to direct a film called THE UNHEARD from a script by CRAWL writers Michael and Shawn Rasmussen.

The Raimi/Robitel project is shrouded in mystery; the "supernatural thriller" description is the only information that has been offered. The project doesn't have a title and plot details are being kept secret for now.

We do know that the project is set up at Sony Pictures. Raimi and his producing partner Rob Tapert will be producing it through their company Ghost House Pictures. Romel Adam will be overseeing the project for Ghost House. The screenplay was written by Gavin Heffernan, and Robitel is expected to direct the film once he's done working on the ESCAPE ROOM sequel, which is scheduled for release on August 14, 2020.

Raimi had this to say about the project:

Ghost House is thrilled to partner again with Sony Pictures, and to work for the first time with the enormously talented Adam Robitel. From the moment Adam and Gavin pitched me their vision for the movie, I knew that this would be an exciting and terrifying experience for the audience."

The project von Hoffmann and the Rasmussens are working on is equally secretive – all we know is that it's a horror movie called THE UNHEARD. David Bernon, Sam Slater, and Paul Bernon of Burn Later Productions are producing the film alongside Andrew Corkin while the Rasmussen brothers serve as executive producers.

So if you enjoyed CRAWL, this is some very good news. We'll soon be seeing three new horror projects from the team behind that film.
