The talks about casting for the upcoming season of True Detective continue as another candidate for a lead role has entered the race. The female lead role, which Elisabeth Moss was at one point being considered for, now has some stiff competition. According to a new report, Rachel McAdams is in the running for the same part that Moss has been circling for the past few weeks.
The other leads, Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch, and Vince Vaughn, are soon to be set in stone although HBO hasn’t confirmed any of the actors for True Detective Season 2. That’s likely something they will do when all the pieces are together, however while Farrell, Kitsch, and Vaughn are all in final talks while the female lead is still "being figured out." McAdams and Moss would be vying for the part of Ani Bezzerides, a no-nonsense Monterey sheriff whose troubled childhood has led to an adulthood plagued by gambling and alcohol addictions.
That’s certainly an interesting change of scenery for McAdams who over the last few years has churned out a few forgettable roles in drek like ABOUT TIME and THE VOW. She’s talented that’s for sure, so maybe with solid material like True Detective she can break out of that particular brand of flick typecasting.
Who would you rather see take the lead, Moss or McAdams?
We know she can play an evil bitch; too bad she's not going for the antagonist.
