Although a U.S. release date still hasn't been announced yet, the first trailer for THE LOBSTER has been released, providing us with a solid look at the sci-fi rom-com thriller from director Yorgos Lanthimos. The Greek filmmaker penned the script with his ALPS and DOGTOOTH co-writer Efthymis Filippou, and besides winning the Jury Prize at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, the movie also was up for the Palme d'Or.
The film has been described as a dystopian love story, and features a fantastic cast that includes Colin Farrell, Rachel Weisz, John C. Reilly, Ben Whishaw, Lea Seydoux, Olivia Colman (Broadchurch, HOT FUZZ), Ashley Jensen (HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, Extras) and Michael Smiley (Spaced, THE WORLD'S END). I know it might look a little pretentious based on this first trailer, but I'm very interested in checking out THE LOBSTER.
"A lobster is an excellent choice."
