When Quentin Taratino’s latest script, THE HATEFUL EIGHT, leaked for the masses the read, the man said he would shelve the project, but not before showcasing a three-hour reading with a well-rounded cast. Either Tarantino calmed down by that point or he loves the material too much to let it go, as the idea came to him to write a different third act and still film it. It seems that possibility is quickly becoming a reality, as Kurt Russell recent spoke out about the project.
In Russell’s own words:
There’s a Tarantino project called The Hateful Eight that looks like it may go somewhere around the beginning of the year.
All the signs are pointing towards us getting a cinematic HATEFUL EIGHT, which is just fine by me. Tarantino’s turn into the western genre in DJANGO UNCHAINED was a lot of fun, if not a little long. With the cast who was available for the three-hour reading, I would love to see that line-up on the big screen!
THE HATEFUL EIGHT, which recently featured Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth, Kurt Russell, Amber Tamblyn, Bruce Dern, Walton Goggins, James Parks, Michael Madsen and James Remar in a live reading, should start shooting early 2015.
