Quentin Tarantino would love to do a horror film for his final movie

With the release of ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD now behind us, writer/director Quentin Tarantino will soon begin developing what will be his tenth and final feature-film. "I think when it comes to theatrical movies, I’ve come to the end of the road," the director recently said. "I see myself writing books and starting to write theatre, so I’ll still be creative. I just think I’ve given all I have to give to movies." It remains to be seen what Tarantino's final project will be, but there are plenty of options.

While speaking to reporters during the ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD international press-tour, Quentin Tarantino revealed that one of those options could be a horror film. "If I come up with a terrific horror film story, I will do that as my tenth movie," Tarantino said. "I love horror movies. I would love to do a horror film." The thought of Quentin Tarantino tackling the horror genre is certainly intriguing, and while the director has never made a straight-up horror flick, he does think that the Spahn Ranch sequence in ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD is the closest he's gotten so far.

I do actually think that the Spahn Ranch sequence is the closest to a horror sequence. I do think it’s vaguely terrifying. And I didn’t quite realize how good we did it, frankly, until my editor told me. He goes, ‘The Spahn Ranch sequence is a horror film…it’s ‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’ with a budget.'

As I said, there are plenty of options for Quentin Tarantino's tenth and final film, such as the R-rated Star Trek project and KILL BILL VOl. 3, and the director has recently said that whatever the project becomes, it will likely be more "epilogue-y" than what's he's done before. "If you think about the idea of all the movies telling one story, and each film is like a train boxcar, connected to each other, this one would sort of be the big show-stopping climax of it all," Tarantino said. "And I could imagine that the 10th one would be a little more epilogue-y."

ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD is now playing in theaters, so be sure to check out a review from our own Chris Bumbray.
