Mere days after breaking his silence on Uma Thurman's in-depth article with The New York Times, in which she revealed the details of a horrendous crash on the set of KILL BILL and more, Tarantino is in the news, once again, this time with an apology for Samantha Geimer, who was the 13-year-old rape victim of controversial filmmaker Roman Polanski.
Tarantino made his comments related to Ms. Geimer during a 2003 interview with Howard Stern, saying that the incident involving a then 13-year-old Geimer was "not rape" and that Geimer "wanted to have it."
On Tuesday, Geimer fired back at Tarantino while giving an interview with the New York Daily where she says the PULP FICTION filmmaker's comments were "wrong," and she bets he knows it, too.
Following Geimer's callout, Tarantino spoke with Anne Thompson of IndieWire in an effort to apologize for his gross remarks. You can read a transcript of Tarantino's apology in-full below:
I want to publicly apologize to Samantha Geimer for my cavalier remarks on The Howard Stern Showspeculating about her and the crime that was committed against her. Fifteen years later, I realize how wrong I was. Ms. Geimer WAS raped by Roman Polanski. When Howard brought up Polanski, I incorrectly played devil's advocate in the debate for the sake of being provocative. I didn't take Ms. Geimer's feelings into consideration and for that I am truly sorry.
So, Ms. Geimer, I was ignorant, and insensitive, and above all, incorrect.
I am sorry Samantha.
Quick, someone get Quentin Tarantino a rope, because he's going to need one if the hole he's digging for himself gets any deeper.
I'll leave the ball in your court for this one, ladies and gentlemen. Our comments section can be found below, and I encourage you to use it.
The UNTITLED 9th QUENTIN TARANTINO FILM is still getting all of its ducks in a row, though the odyssey set during the Charles Manson murders in 1969 Los Angeles has already cast Leonardo DiCaprio, with Margot Robbie rumored to star as well. The film is expected to be released on August 9, 2019, though that could change if Tarantino fails to get his house back to a proper and respectable order.
