Quantum Leap: Scott Bakula has been invited to join the reboot series

Scott Bakula, Quantum Leap reboot

The series finale of Quantum Leap claimed that Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) never returned home, but he may return for the reboot series.

The upcoming Quantum Leap reboot, which is really more of a revival, will be set nearly thirty years since Dr. Beckett stepped into the Quantum leap accelerator and vanished. Scott Bakula has previously been keen on a continuation of the series, but it’s not clear if he’s involved in the reboot. Ernie Hudson told TVLine that the invitation for Scott Bakula to join the Quantum Leap reboot is out there.

I’ve always appreciated his work. He was wonderful in the [original] series and everything I’ve seen him do. Everybody that I know involved in [the reboot] would love to see him return. I know the invitation is out there, but I don’t know what his response is.

The reboot follows a new team who has been assembled to restart the Quantum Leap project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it. Raymond Lee stars as Dr. Ben Seong, a world-renowned physicist and man of faith who finds himself stuck in the late 1980s with amnesia after using the Quantum leap technology on himself.

Ernie Hudson will play Herbert “Magic” Williams in the reboot. Williams is a Vietnam veteran and head of the time travel project at Quantum Leap. Using a bit of politicking and his military know-how to keep the Pentagon at bay, Magic buys the team some time to rescue Ben but expects answers once he’s back. Caitlin Bassett also stars as Addison, who appears in the form of a hologram only Ben can see or hear; Mason Alexander Park as Ian Wright, who runs the AI unit Ziggy; and Narnisa lee as Jenn Chou, head of Digital Security for the Quantum Leap project.

The Quantum Leap reboot will debut on NBC on September 19th. Would you like to see Scott Bakula return?
