Peacock has set a date for its revival of the classic sitcom Punky Brewster. The upcoming 10-episode presentation, which has Soleil Moon Frye reprising her iconic role from the original series, will premiere on February 25th. It's also been noted that all ten episodes of the series will be released at the same time, so you can binge to your heart's content. In addition to dating the new show, Peacock has also shared an image of its Punky Brewster cast (shown above).
Once a bright young girl being raised by a foster dad in the 1980s series, Punky is now a single mother of three trying to get her life back on track. When the new series arrives at the delight of '80s kids the world over, Punky will meet Izzy (Quinn Copeland), a girl in the foster system who reminds her of her younger self. Cherie Johnson reprises her role as Punky’s best friend Cherie, and the series also stars Freddie Prinze Jr. as Travis, Punky’s ex-husband; Noah Cottrell as Diego; Oliver De Los Santos as Daniel, and Lauren Lindsey Donzis as Hannah. The original Punky Brewster, which aired for four seasons between 1984 and 1988, introduced families of the '80s to Punky Brewster, a spirited young girl being raised by a foster parent played by George Gaynes. With her signature pigtails always sporting smiling sun barrettes, Punky managed to elevate adorable '80s kid characters to a whole new level. Often troublesome but never mean-spirited, Punky showed audiences that every kid deserves another chance at having a family. How Punky's new family will put her through her paces has yet to be seen, though I'm certain that fans looking forward to this wholesome revival are eager to find out.
