So this is fun! Apparently fan Ryan Trawick has recreated a version of P.T. – the inventive teaser to the ill-fated SILENT HILLS game from Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro – using outdated HyperCard software.
Now if you haven't heard of HyperCard, according to Wikipedia, HyperCard was
based on the concept of a "stack" of virtual "cards"…Each card contains a set of interactive objects, including text fields, check boxes, buttons, and similar common graphical user interface (GUI) elements. Users browse the stack by navigating from card to card, using built-in navigation features, a powerful search mechanism, or through user-created scripts.
This is the kind of software that was made to make games like the popular MYST (which P.T. – with its obtuse puzzles and limited interactivity – shares more than a striking resemblance to).
Now, if you want to play it for yourself, you can download the P.T. remake for free here, or offer a "pay what you want" donation.
So what do you guys think? And what other horror games would you like to see made with HyperCard or other older tech? I honestly would be curious what a Sierra point-and-click adventure game version of ETERNAL DARKNESS would be like…Either way, sound off below!
