Robert Rodriguez has been getting all his ducks in a row to launch in a back-to-back (and possibly overlapping) production extravaganza of MACHETE KILLS and SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR with these two new promo posters hitting the web to further the tease.
Not a frame of film (or video, in Rodriguez’s case) has been shot on either film, so naturally all we’re going to get are some typographic posters in the style of each respective film. They’re cool enough in their design, but nothing mind blowing.
Take a look:
If anything, the SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR promo poster confirms Frank Miller’s involvement as co-director once again. I’m a big fan of Miller’s, albeit his comic work, and I’m thinking his input into the production of this film, as with the first, is what will steer it to a stronger film than Rodriguez has been capable of on his own in the past.
Rodriguez has got some style and technical skill, but his scripts leave a lot to be desired in my opinion. Thankfully, he’s aligned himself with Miller again. As for MACHETE KILLS, I’d all but written it off until Gibson’s involvement. Now, I’m completely intrigued in the hopes of seeing batshit Mel in an off-the-wall villain role. Y’know, aside from the recorded phone calls.
There’s no official release date for MACHETE KILLS or SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR just yet, as most people still don’t believe they’re actually happening. Stay tuned as these projects progress.
