Yesterday Simon Pegg announced on his Twitter that filming has wrapped on STAR TREK BEYOND. The third nu-Star Trek flick entered production in June with THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS 3-6's Justin Lin behind the camera, taking over for J.J. Abrams, who directed the two previous movies. Pegg co-wrote the script with CONFIDENCE scribe and Dark Blue creator Doug Jung, and although story details have been scarce, we do know the film will follow the USS Enterprise crew on their five-year mission, with Idris Elba playing the villain.
Video from STAR TREK BEYOND's Dubai production and a couple of set photos have also surfaced online, featuring several alien species that'll be appearing in the film, which you can check out below. When do you think the first trailer will be released?
STAR TREK BEYOND will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the franchise, and has been set to beam into theaters on July 22, 2016.
