INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 4, the next entry in the surprisingly consistent INSIDIOUS franchise that began in 2010, is being helmed by Adam Robitel (THE TAKING OF DEBORAH LOGAN) from a script by series screenwriter (and CHAPTER 3 director) Leigh Whannell. That's the first time somebody other than James Wan or Whannell has tackled an entry, but so far it seems to be working because they're definitely ahead of schedule.
According to this Tweet from Robitel on Monday, the film has already finished principal photography. Blumhouse is notorious for doing reshoots, but now they have plenty of time to get those over with and still deliver a solid product:
Last day on @InsidiousMovies Chapter 4. Can't believe it. So excited to take you Further! #Insidious @blumhouse @creepypuppet @LWhannell pic.twitter.com/rAkSS2Eeoz

Something that stands out to me in this picture is the location, which looks like a hilly desert area. There's certainly no shortage of those in Southern California, but it's unusual for an INSIDIOUS movie to take place outside of the cramped interiors of suburbia. I'm excited to see how this setting plays into the film, which we still have no details on, plot-wise.
Also, as if you needed any more confirmation that franchise star Lin Shaye was awesome, check out her wrap present for Robitel:
Best wrap gift ever, from @linshaye "Love your monsters" she said. Well I love my leading lady, she killed it! @blumhouse @InsidiousMovies pic.twitter.com/5qDf0ADVML

Lin Shaye, Leigh Whannell, and Angus Sampson will be returning to the cast, joined by Kirk Acevedo, Bruce Davison, Spencer Locke, and Caitlin Gerard.
Produced by Jason Blum, Oren Peli, and James Wan, INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 4 is set to haunt theaters on October 20, 2017.
