Production has begun on David Yates’ Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them

Warner Bros. has announced that today marks the first day of principal photography for FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM. David Yates is directing the Harry Potter spinoff from a script by author J.K. Rowling, but there's been no word on if he will be back to helm the planned sequels.

Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne was cast as Newt Scamander, "the wizarding world’s preeminent magizoologist, who stops in New York following his travels to find and document magical creatures," earlier this summer, and film will also feature the talents of Colin Farrell, Ezra Miller, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Samantha Morton, Jenn Murray and newcomer Faith Wood-Blagrove. FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM will be set seventy years prior to the events from the Potter books and movies.

I'm not a massive Potter fan, meaning I enjoyed the novels and films, but never felt a need to revisit them. However, I am curious to see what Warner Bros. and company will do with the spinoff. Where does FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM rank on your list of most anticipated movies of 2016?

FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM hits theaters on November 18, 2016, while the second installment is set to be released on November 16, 2018, and the threequel will open on November 20, 2020.
