Production begins on Ted Geoghegan’s Mohawk, starring Tiio Horn

Director Ted Geoghegan, who made a splash with his debut feature WE ARE STILL HERE, has begun production today on his sophomore feature, a co-production between Dark Sky Films and Snowfort Pictures. The film, entitled MOHAWK, will star Hemlock Grove's Tiio Horn, who is actually from the Mohawk region in New York.

The synopsis:

After one of her tribe sets an American soldiers' camp ablaze, a young female Mohawk finds herself pursued by a ruthless band of renegades bent on revenge. Fleeing deep into the woods, Mohawk youths Oak and Calvin confront the bloodthirsty Colonel Holt and his soldiers. As the Americans seem to close in from all sides, the trio must summon every resource both real and supernatural as the brutal attack escalates.

Says producer Travis Stevens, "From Rey in THE FORCE AWAKENS, to FURY ROAD's Furiosa, to Wonder Woman to Jessica Jones, action audiences have shown a voracious appetite for strong, well-written female characters. We're excited to work with Dark Sky Films and Tiio Horn and introduce the character of 'Okwaho' to the diverse pantheon of action heroines who have come before her."

The film will also star WWE Superstar Jon Huber, Ian Colleti (Preacher), Noah Segan (LOOPER), Justin Rain (TWILIGHT: ECLIPSE), Robert Longstreet (TAKE SHELTER), Sheri Foster (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), and Ezra Buzzington (THE HILLS HAVE EYES). Principal photography on MOHAWK begins today in New York.
