Whoa! We've just received word that actress and Bollywood beauty Priyanka Chopra Jonas is in final talks to join the cast of the untitled fourth film in the Matrix saga. The hotly-anticipated project has Lana Wachowski directing, with stars the likes of Keanu Reeves and Carrie Ann Moss in line to reprise their roles from the original trilogy of films.
Joining Reeves and Moss for another trip into a world where information flows like wine are Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Neil Patrick Harris. For the moment, details regarding Priyanka's role are being kept hidden within the chemicals that make up the blue pill, a conduit for blissful ignorance and a safehaven from the harsh truths of our world.
Currently, key members of the Matrix 4 cast are engaged in fight training, a process that will whip them into shape before the project's production start in Northern California.
Though she got her acting start as a celebrated Bollywood darling, Jonas now has more than 60 acting credits to her name. Her Bollywood debut was for the Anil Sharma-directed action-adventure drama THE HERO: LOVE STORY OF A SPY. However, most will know her from the U.S. television series QUANTICO, in which she starred as FBI Black Ops team member Alex Parrish. The show was cancelled after three seasons, though not before Jonas won a People's Choice award for her now-iconic role.
Now that Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow's The Matrix 4 project is looking to add one of Forbes' Most Powerful Women to its cast, it's become clear that Wachowski's next deep-dive into a digital world of wonder will no doubt be a star-studded affair. I say bring it on, as I can't wait to see how today's FX technology is applied to this iconic property and then some.
