Prepare to get your head crushed as Amazon is reviving The Kids in the Hall

Amazon Studios has ordered an eight-episode revival of the classic Canadian sketch comedy series The Kid in the Hall, which will feature the return of original cast-members Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson. The cast will be bringing a few of their classic characters back for the revival, along with some new ones. The original series ran from 1989 to 1995 on CBC in Canada, and on CBS, HBO, and Comedy Central in the United States. The series also spawned a feature-film, BRAIN CANDY, as well as an eight-part miniseries, Death Comes to Town, over a decade ago.

Amazon's revival of The Kids in the Hall will be executive produced by Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels, who said, "Even after 30 years, ‘The Kids in the Hall’ has retained its brilliance and originality. We are happy to be bringing back all of the original ‘Kids’ for the new series." In his own statement, Amazon Studios' Vice-president of International Originals, James Farrell, added:

We’ve been investing in Canada for several years and are excited to add to that momentum by making ‘The Kids in the Hall’ the first Canadian Amazon Original series. 'The Kids in the Hall’ is an iconic show with a deep-rooted fan base. Several of our global hits, including ‘The Boys,’ ‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan’ and ‘The Expanse’ have been filmed in Canada and we are looking forward to continuing our work with talented producers and crew teams across the country to bring this series to our Prime members around the world.

There's no word just yet on when Amazon's revival of The Kids in the Hall will debut, but there's sure to be more than a few of you who are excited for the return of the cult comedy series.
