Preacher hasn't even concluded its first season and it has already been renewed for a second. Not only that, but the second season (coming in 2017) will be expanded to 13 episodes as opposed to the original's 10. Says AMC President Charlie Collier: "Preacher is a special television program and we’re eager to share with fans the rest of this wild first season and, now, an expanded second season.”
I haven't had my eye on Preacher, though I do dig its stars, so I'm happy to hear it will return to satisfy fans (especially those between 18-49 and 25-54 years old, the groups that made Preacher the #2 new cable series in their demographic).
Preacher centers on
Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) embark on a journey to, literally, find God.
Preacher's pilot was written by Sam Catlin, who also serves as showrunner. It was developed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. The show also stars Ian Colletti, Lucy Griffiths, W. Earl Brown, Elizabeth Perkins, Tom Brooke, Jamie Anne Allman, Derek Wilson, Ricky Mabe, and Jackie Earle Haley.
