A couple of weeks back I told everyone about the huge hat trick of all strikes that may take place next year. The Director’s Guild, The Screen Actor’s Guild and The Writer’s Guild have contracts ending in 2008, which threatens a potential of a huge over haul on how things are getting done in Hollywood. This has producers and production companies shaking in their boots as they try to push a long list of films to get made before this happens.
Well folks, the list just got longer. This time the list also features production start dates. This may or may not be a good thing because realistically, there is no real time or preparation going into these films to make them remotely good. Here are some things within our spectrum that is getting the production push:
ANGELS AND DEMONS 18-Feb (prequel of THE DA VINCI CODE), EAGLE EYE November, LOVELY BONES November, THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL 12/3/2007, WOLVERINE 7-Nov, MAGNETO 1-Jan, CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON FEB, WOLFMAN 28-Jan. And much more.
There are a ton of sequels on the list that really do not need to be made, like THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR 2, and FAST AND THE FURIOUS 4. I suppose we’re going to have settle with some really poorly made/thought out films until the strike passes.
I do see this strike as an entry point for a bunch of new undiscovered talent, so who knows what will truly happen. To see the full list, Click Here.
