Let’s be honest — when we were younger, we enjoyed movies and television shows chock full of martial arts action because we wanted to learn various ways to torture our siblings. If we could master a brand new kick or sweet jump move to bust out on those younger than us, we couldn’t get enough of it! Of course, as soon as anything connected with the little one’s head, we quickly tried to shut them up in order to keep our parents from hearing. But that’s just how we rolled in the 90s!
The two biggest shows to lend to this trend had to be TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES and MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS. Both shows became insanely popular during their initial runs and it was inevitable that they would make their way to the silver screen. While both have had big-budget reboots in recent years, we’re taking it all the way back to the 90s for this episode to compare their very first outings on the big screen. So let’s grab our nunchucks, tighten that ninja headband, and start Morphin here on… FACE OFF!
This episode of Face Off is written by Bryan Wolford, narrated by Shawn Knippelberg, and edited by John Nguyen. Let us know in the comments which 90s film is your pick — Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
