Potter 6 breaks record

Wow, HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE had been getting some exceptionally good reviews with a lot hailing it as the best in the series and just the name alone guaranteed a significantly above average box office receipt but did anybody anticipate it would be record breaking? And by a significant margin at that?

Reports have come in today that the film’s midnight screenings alone have racked up a whopping 22.2 million dollars, effectively shattering the previous 18 million dollar record held by THE DARK KNIGHT (and to put it in context, REVENGE OF THE SITH had previously made 17 million with this summer’s REVENGE OF THE FALLEN making 16 million).

The question now will, of course, turn to whether or not the boy wizard’s sixth cinematic adventure will do the same for THE DARK KNIGHT’s five day box office record and ultimately, whether it’ll topple The Record Which Must Not Be Named?
