I love a good haunted house tale and Mike Flanagan's take on The Haunting of Hill House for Netflix has become one of my favourites. The second installment of the director's Haunting anthology series is set to debut on Netflix this week, telling a new story primarily based on Henry James' "The Turn of the Screw." Although it does feature a handful of returning actors playing new roles, The Haunting of Bly Manor looks to offer a whole new helping of frights.
Taking place in 1980s England, The Haunting of Bly Manor follows a young American nanny (Victoria Pedretti) who is hired to care for the orphaned niece and nephew of Henry Wingrave (Henry Thomas). Toss in some dark secrets, gothic romance, and hidden ghosts, and you've got the makings for another fantastic season. Netflix has unveiled a series of posters for The Haunting of Bly Manor that reveal the titles of the episodes, and you can check those out below.
As you can see, the title for the eighth episode of The Haunting of Bly Manor has been left blank, hang-man style, so I would imagine that it could be construed as a spoiler, unless of course "_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ " is the actual title. Any guesses?
The official synopsis for The Haunting of Bly Manor:
Set in 1980s England. After an au pair’s tragic death, Henry Wingrave (Henry Thomas) hires a young American nanny (Victoria Pedretti) to care for his orphaned niece and nephew (Amelie Bea Smith, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) who reside at Bly Manor with the estate’s chef Owen (Rahul Kohli), groundskeeper Jamie (Amelia Eve) and housekeeper, Mrs. Grose (T’Nia Miller). But all is not as it seems at the manor, and centuries of dark secrets of love and loss are waiting to be unearthed in this chilling gothic romance. At Bly Manor, dead doesn’t mean gone.
The Haunting of Bly Manor will debut on Netflix on October 9, 2020.
