As soon as you get to October, all of the posters start flying in for the fall releases and early 2014 movies. Today, a couple that stand out amongst the rest are the latest banner for THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG and a low resolution look at the David Ayer directed SABOTAGE, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
THE HOBBIT banner follows the same pattern as the one for AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY. It is a wide panoramic with various settings and characters from the film. Richard Armitage and the dwarves, Orlando Bloom and the elves, Ian McKellen, and Luke Evans. Right in the center we have Martin Freeman as Bilbo. Like all of the marketing for Peter Jackson‘s films, THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG has an epic scope to it. But, like the new films, this poster looks a little to crisp and clean. Something about it just doesn’t sit right with me, but it is still a kick-ass wallpaper on my dual monitors.
THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG opens on December 13, 2013.
The other poster is a low resolution glimpse at the international poster for David Ayer‘s SABOTAGE. Previously titled as THE TEN and BREACHER, SABOTAGE is a riff on the old Agatha Christie story “And Then There Were None”, but with an action twist.
A team of Drug Enforcement Administration operatives, led by John Wharton (a.k.a “Breacher”) is sent to bust the safe house of a drug cartel, although the main and actual motive is to pocket millions of dollars worth of loot. With the money safely hidden, the squad thinks that their secret is safe – until a mysterious assassin starts assassinating the team members one by one.
The poster is similar to the image we have already seen of Arnold Schwarzenegger with slicked back hair in a bulletproof vest. The movie also has one hell of a cast including Sam Worthington, Terrence Howard, Joe Manganiello, Josh Holloway, Mireille Enos, and Olivia Williams. This may be a low quality look at the poster but there is plenty of time between now and the film’s April 11, 2014 release to see the official domestic version.
