Got a smattering of movie posters for you today, most of them variations of some form, which can be pretty cool. Oftentimes the variants are better than the original, because they can “stretch their wings” in the creativity department as they aren’t the tip of the marketing spear. These are a very unique blend, ranging from some lesser-known pics to bigger ones. Scroll down to check ’em out and read a brief description of each movie.
CLOUD ATLAS – This poster is a variant character poster featuring Susan Sarandon as Ursula. Directed by Tom Twyker and The Wachowskis, the multi-faceted, time-spanning, globe-trotting epic starring Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugo Weaving, Keith David, Jim Broadbent, Ben Whishaw, James D’Arcy, and Xun Zhou opens on October 26, 2012.
THE MASTER – An art variant poster of director Paul Thomas Anderson’s controversial film about one man’s influence in creating his own religion. Currently in theaters, the film stars Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Amy Adams.
BILLY CLUB – I’ve never heard of this film until today, but the poster is pretty cool looking. Here’s the synopsis from IMDB: Four little league teammates reunite after fifteen years to solve the mystery behind a horrible killing from their childhood. A mysterious letter sends the gang on a mission to unearth the grave of their old coach and prove that their incarcerated friend is innocent. Little do they know the real killer is stalking them and hungry for their blood! Probably a straight-to-video release, but still…a baseball made of skin!
DJANGO UNCHAINED – This international poster for Quentin Tarantino’s latest opus features the kind of art style we’ve come to expect in these types of variants. And that is in no way a bad thing. Very sharp and cool. Starring Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, and Kerry Washington, Django breaks free on December 25, 2012.
SILENT HILL: REVELATION 3D – The long-awaited sequel (wait…right?) to the videogame adaptation features the infamous Pyramid Head villain/demon/trendsetter wielding his oversided sword with a killer klown about to swallow him up. Or something. Starring Sean Bean, Radha Mitchell, Kit Harrington, and Adelaide Clemens, the sequel opens October 26, 2012.
SILENT NIGHT – a loose remake of the original cult horror flick, this new outing stars Malcolm McDowell and Jaimie King. Here’s the synopsis: McDowell and King star as a small-town sheriff and deputy on the hunt for a murderous Santa Claus terrorizing their community on Christmas Eve. But with the streets full of Santas for the annual Christmas parade, the killer is hiding in plain sight. He’s made his list, checked it twice, and the naughty are going to pay with their lives. The pic is slated for a limited theatrical run on November 30, 2012.
