Lots of new posters today, and all of them better than that crappy teaser poster for WORLD WAR Z. First up we have the poster for JURASSIC PARK 3D. No, not a new movie, just the re-release of the original Steven Spielberg movie, now in gloriously unnecessary 3D.
I am left wondering when this trend will stop seeing as post-converting any non-digital movie to 3D looks like shit. I love JURASSIC PARK and will not sully it by seeing this. But, many of you might. Plus, the poster is pretty cool.
JURASSIC PARK 3D hits theaters on April 5, 2013. Their Facebook page is promising a new trailer tomorrow as well, so stay tuned.
After a bevy of beautiful posters, KILLING THEM SOFTLY is winding down their marketing campaign in advance of the movie’s November 30th release date. This latest poster follows the same themes of America and violence. Not my favorite of the bunch, but probably better than 90% of the Photoshopped tripe out there.
Plot: Three dumb guys who think they’re smart rob a Mob protected card game, causing the local criminal economy to collapse. Brad Pitt plays the enforcer hired to track them down and restore order. KILLING THEM SOFTLY also features Richard Jenkins, James Gandolfini, Ray Liotta, Scoot McNairy, Ben Mendelsohn and Vincent Curatola. Max Casella, Trevor Long, Slaine and Sam Shepard also make appearances. KILLING THEM SOFTLY is written for the screen and directed by Andrew Dominik (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford) and is based on the George V. Higgins novel, “Cogan’s Trade.”
Next up is a teaser poster for the NEUROMANCER movie that is in development. Coming Soon snapped this pic from the American Film Market. This is just a marketing poster at this point, but a pretty damn cool one. Hopefully the project comes together and we get a decent William Gibson adaptation on the big screen.
SIMON KILLER is not hitting theaters until the spring, but this poster is certainly wowing people. The film comes from Antonio Campos, who directed MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE, which was phenomenal. SIMON KILLER follows recent graduate Simon (Brady Corbet) as he travels to Paris to escape the fallout from a former relationship. No matter how hard he tries, Simon can’t seem to shake the past and feelings of lost love. Instead, he fills his days traveling the streets and taking in the sites, while composing letters to his ex-girlfriend, engaging in chat room sex and hitting on girls in the streets. When he meets a beautiful prostitute (Mati Diop) and falls in love, everything begins to unravel and we discover that Simon is harboring some dark secrets.
That sounds really good. Hopefully it can live up to this poster.
Lastly, we have the final poster for Kathryn Bigelow’s ZERO DARK THIRTY. This is how you use text on a poster. The title is front and center while also illustrating the political and military elements of the story. Understated and stark, this is a nice poster. I loved the teaser poster with the redacted title image, but this works for me as well.
ZERO DARK THIRTY will be opening in limited release on December 19th before going wide in January.
